Put a random object under a microscope and it looks much cooler. Each of those pictures has been enlarged 22 million times. Each picture has been taken using a traditional microscope, but with the help of some powerful electronic microscopes, which bombard the subject with electrons. This is the reason why the images have such visual effect.
